Soul Sweat Songs

At the Soul Sweat, songs are used to ‘raise up’ the overall vibrations of the healing process of releasing on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
Here are some of the songs and affirmations we use:

1. ‘Mother-Father’ Song

(This is the first song that is sung once everyone is settled into the very first sauna room we enter)

Mother…
Father…
Creator of Heaven and Earth
Make us a new people
New flesh and bones
Blood and veins
Hearts and minds
A revitalized people
Spirits full of Love and Grace

Give us the Strength, Endurance and Faith
To live, as you’d have us live
A clean Life
A Purified Life
A Natural and a Wholesome life

2. ‘Give to the Fire’ Affirmations

After we finish singing ‘Mother-Father’, each person has a chance to ‘Give to the Fire’

a. You say your name
b. The rest of the group repeats your name 3 times to empower it
c. You say ‘I give to the Fire…’ followed by any habits, actions, values, etc. that you want to remove from your life.
Many common ones are procrastination, fear, clutter.
d. Then you say, ‘I take from the Fire…’ followed by any habits, actions, values, etc. that you want to bring in to your life
e. When you are done, the rest of the group responds with ‘Tu-Ashay, Tu-Ashay, Tu-Ashay’
f. Then the next person goes until everyone who wants to participate has finished

3. ‘All the Power’

(this song is usually sung after the ‘Give to the Fire’ affirmations are finished, while still in first sauna room)

(Call and Response)

All the Power
And the Glory
Is inside of me
Deep inside of me

And all the elements
Earth, Water and Fire
Air and Spirit
They’re all inside of you and me

And all the Love I’ve been looking for
And all the Joy I’ve been seeking
Is inside of me
Deep inside of me

And all the Power
and the Glory
is inside of me
Deep inside of me

All the Power
And the Glory
Is inside of me
Deep inside of me

And all the elements
And everything that’s in the Universe
They’re what we’re made up of
They’re all inside of you and me

And all the Love, all the Love, all the Love
I’ve been looking for
And all the Joy I’ve been seeking
Is inside of me
Deep inside of me

And all the Power
and the Glory
And all the Power
and the Glory
All the Power
and the Glory
is inside of me

And I’m gonna use it
(Repeat with clapping)

    Totally Awesome,
I love the sweat, I attend each month. It is a spiritual, physical, and mental experience that helps to relieve, renew, and revitalize your very soul. It is a unity amongst sistahs and brothas that feels very natural. It is a wealth of information and resources that will help improve your life and become more conscience of wellness. These songs are intertwined into the experience and taught in such a way that you really feel like you are amonst the african ancester. Our facilitator the great one Baaba Pa-ur, has such a love for this calling, a man full of knowledge and wisdom, I thank you, don’t give up! The “Mudman” with the energy and love to have available all the nutritional products to help us stay well, thanks buddy. To the wonderful and hardest working staff in the soulsweat (Okera, Kweli, Kevin, Elsiana, Helen and Gloria, thanks for you assisting at the soulsweat, it was said to give our bodies to yall during the sweat so that we can relax, enjoy and meditate on the moments. To the rest of my soul sweat family, it’s always good seing your faces and enjoying a day at the spa with you, LUV U. I take this time to invite everyone that is reading this, to come and experience a wonderful experience at the soul sweat, join us 3rd sunday each month in philadelphia. See you there. Peace, Sis.
